Top Industrial AI Companies: Siemens in the Lead
EconSight’s contribution at the World Economic Forum in Davos 2026
From a technological perspective, this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos is all about AI, especially applications. In our talks, we tried to shift the focus from consumer AI to concrete real-world applications, especially industrial AI.
The chart that attracted the most attention was clearly the ranking of the best companies in industrial AI. Contrary to general expectations, Siemens, a European company, leads the way, with Bosch and ABB also in the top 20. IBM and Rockwell Automation, two US companies, follow in second and third place. Overall, the top 20 is a mix of the most important industrial companies and a few broadly based IT/digital companies such as Alphabet.
Industrial AI focuses on the integration of AI technologies into real-world production processes. Whereas consumer-oriented AI emphasizes exploratory capabilities and tolerates occasional errors, industrial AI combines the potential of AI with the stringent requirements of high-quality industrial production. Error tolerance must be extremely low, with rigorous standards for reliability, explainability, and regulatory compliance. The primary objectives are to reduce costs, increase system availability, and enhance safety; however, industrial AI systems are required to operate with near-zero failure rates.
