Cosmonautics – The Development of Space Technologies

New study by the European Patent Office, the European Space Agency and EconSight

The study is a pilot effort of the European Patent Office and the European Space Policy Institute with support from the European Space Agency and EconSight to show the development and dynamics in space activities through the prism of advanced patent statistics.

Based on the technology structure of the European Space Agency, the European Patent Office defined the search definitions in coordination with EconSight. EconSight then carried out the analysis using value-added databases to best demonstrate the commercial relevance of the technologies. Orbit and LexisNexis PatentSight were used as tools for the project.
